way way
so i´m here at the the mall in huehuetenango, huehuetenango in the west of the country, visiting another volunteer, alexa, with lindy, noel´s sister. we arrived yesterday, taking 2 days to get here from ipala, about 10-12 hours in all using various types of transportation. we arrived just in time to spend alexa´s first nite in her new house with her. this is the 4th habitation she´s inhabited since being in san sebastiàn. her last apartment recieved substantial smoke damage when the office next door caught fire. luckily no one was hurt but it did take a long time to put the fire out because they had to bring the firefighters and the water from the cabecera 40 minutes away. so now she´s in a new place and it´s really great. what´s more, she put foam on top on the mattress that lindy and i are using, so it´s just like a temprapedic. or least what i imagine a temprapedic to be like. i think i´m going to do the same on my mattress at home. it´s really nice to be here. i came to huehue last november, but didn´t make it to alexa´s sight. it´s so green and beautiful. what´s more i´m not sweating my face off in ipala. i put my thermometer outside on the patio tuesday before lindy and i left and it read 100.6. that´s hot. add a corregated tin roof and no water into the mix and you´ve got diablo´s love bungalow. that´s where i live. in diablo´s love bungalow. anyway, i´m going to start heading back to the oriente (or the pit of hell as i like to call it) on saturday, probably making a stop over in antigua to break up the trip. i was going to stay with another pc friend on the way home, but a friend of ours had a gun pulled on her along with some other volunteers while they were traveling in a taxi in guate, and so the two of them are going to spend the weekend together processing.
last weekend i went to copàn with noel and lindy. i know, i know, for an ex-boyfriend we are sure spending a lot of time together. well i really wanted to go to copàn and i really want to hang out with lindy as much as i can before she leaves on the 10th, so i decided to go with them to honduras. it was a nice trip, quick and really hot, but the ruins were really impressive, not big as tikal, but still really nice. and the town of copàn ruinas was nice too. i found a resterante that had pakora of all things. so i can cross 2 big things off my to do list with going to copàn and visiting alexa in her site. i just have about 48 more things to go!
